“For who has known the mind of the Lord as to instruct Him, but we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16)
The Father wants to reprogram the way we see reality. As our minds are transformed, we begin to think, perceive, and feel the way the Father does. His thoughts become our thoughts, His desires become our desires. The “mind of Christ” opens a door in our spirit that enables us to access the wisdom and counsel of God. Imagine a living river of God’s thoughts consuming and flowing through your mind.
The Father has created a way out of the feeble limits of human reasoning. Through the Holy Spirit we can step beyond our own minds into the very mind of God, seeing through His eyes, thinking His thoughts, and saying His words: fully possessed by who He is.
We are commanded to not lean on our own understanding, because the human mind attempting to comprehend God and His ways is as ridiculous as an ant trying to figure out even the simplest thoughts of a child. Our hardware is not complex enough, our mind is a little speck of dust in this vast cosmos God has created, and therefore it cannot be trusted to be our guide. Time after time your own understanding will fail you. Only a mind that is tutored by the Holy Spirit and is enlightened by divine revelation can truly know God and begin to comprehend His ways.
“But God has revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man but the spirit of man which is in him? Even so no man knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:10-11)
Though we are one spirit with God, He desires that our mind, will, and desires become one with His. This unification of heart and mind creates a smooth and straight runway for the power and glory of God to touch-down in our lives. A renewed mind creates a comfortable and welcoming environment for the Holy Spirit to flow in and through you, enabling you to walk in freedom and release that same freedom to others.
When a mind is cluttered with worldly nonsense it will instinctively fight against God and oppose the Holy Spirit at every turn, but when a mind is possessed by the thoughts of God, then Holy Spirit has a perfect channel to flow through and is not hindered by crooked perceptions.
As we meditate on the word of God, and allow it to sink deep into our inner-man, we will become increasingly possessed by God’s thoughts. Just remember this principle: you will walk out what you think about. Whatever you fix your eyes on ultimately will determine your direction. Therefore fill your mind with God’s truth and you’ll see that your vision will change, you’ll begin to see from heavens perspective, you’ll begin to feel how God feels about different situations, your mind will become increasingly one with His mind as you wash yourself with His word day in and day out.
